LAVINA, EDCO And ONFLOOR Compatible Quick Change Trapezoid Metal Bond Tools with double Zipper Bars are used for concrete grinding and are made with a different bond hardness for different types of concrete – soft, medium, hard, extra hard and super hard. Using the wrong bond can cause diamond glazing, premature wear or difficult scratches.

QUICK CHANGE METAL BOND SEGMENT TOOLS

The Quick Change trapezoid pads easily slide in and out of the metal grinding heads without any bolting or extra plates needed. These tools can be used with LAVINA grinders as well as other grinders via QC ADAPTER PLATES. 

Our Quick Change diamonds come in different metal bonds designed specifically for the different types of concrete hardness. To select the correct bond for a specific floor, we recommend using the Mohs Scratch Test kit first to determine the hardness of the concrete. 

• Choose the right tools, based on the concrete hardness for each specific job. The Mohs Scratch Test kit can help determine the hardness of the concrete.
• Choose between one or two segments depending on the grinder weight – use single button / bar tools with grinders under 25″, and double button / bar tools with grinders over 25″. Fewer segments cut faster, whereas more segments create more surface contact and allow for surface refinement with less scratches.
• We recommend using 6 tools per head on 13″ heads for optimal tool life. 
• Grit range: 14, 30, 50, 70, 120. To expose medium to large aggregate, you can start with 30 grit metals. For small to medium aggregate start with 70 grit metals. For salt and pepper – 120 grit metals.
• Recommended RPMs: 550-650 for electric machines, 1800-2100 for propane machines.

Choose between one or two segments (buttons or bars) to control the speed and aggressiveness of the cut. Fewer segments cut faster, whereas more segments create more surface contact and allow for surface refinement with less scratches.

Double button / bar tools are recommended for heavier machines - larger than 25 inches. Single button / bar tools are designed for lighter machines, or where aggressive stock removal is required. We recommend using single-segment tools for the first step even with heavier machines for faster opening of the concrete.

To expose medium to large aggregate, you can start with 30 grit metals. For small to medium aggregate start with 70 grit metals. For salt and pepper - 120 grit metals.

Grit 6#,16/20# diamond grinding shoes are usually the first step of metal bond grinding for removing old rough surfaces. The big diamond particles give you deep cut and powerful removal, The use can significantly open the floors and expose the new substrate of concrete, so you can easily step to next floor prep and resurfacing.This grit is also good for thinner coating removal such as urethane, acrylic, epoxy, and so on.

Grit 30/40# are commonly used for concrete floor grinding. It produces even and obvious scratch pattern and easily and quickly open the old surfaces.

Grit 50/60/70/80# is produces medium scratches.

Grit 100/120/150# diamond grinding shoes are usually the last step of metal bond grinding for concrete floors finest preparation.
